Get things done in Vela

Describe the outcome in chat, follow progress and receive the result.

How-toChecked 2026-10-12

Tell Vela what you want to achieve in the normal chat. You do not need a separate task form.

  1. Click Vela or a specialist character to open the conversation.
  2. Type or dictate what you want done, then send it. For example: "Find Sheffield manufacturers with a recent supported reason to talk."
  3. Vela answers using available tools or hands a bounded task to a specialist. Follow its recorded progress in the conversation.
  4. When the specialist finishes, its available result returns to the original conversation and Vela's linked conversation. Open the supporting work for detail.

A queued task is saved, not finished. You can leave the page and return to its progress. Do not send the same instruction repeatedly while it is waiting.

Status Meaning
Queued Saved and waiting to start.
Waiting for your settings A switch, quiet hours or allowance is holding it.
Working A recorded run is active.
Ready for review A prepared action needs your decision.
Finished Read the result and supporting work.
Needs attention Read the problem before retrying.
Cancelled The task was cancelled.

You can talk directly to Search, Insights, Engage or Optimise for focused help. Their delegated tasks still appear in Vela's team view. A private conversational reply is not a separate shared report.

Repeat something on a schedule

Ask in chat: "Every weekday at 09:00 London time, have Insights summarise changes in my saved audience." Give the task, time and frequency. Daily, weekday and weekly routines are supported, with up to ten per account and workspace. The agent's Details shows its routines, next run and pause or resume control. Vela shows the team's routines.

Routines use the existing agent worker and account limits. Quiet hours and role settings can delay a task. Missed dates are skipped rather than replayed as a backlog. Pausing prevents future scheduled runs; a task already queued has its own cancellation control.

Sending, publishing and other protected changes still show their required review when that action is ready. Chatting or handing a task to a specialist does not require a separate approval form. See Review what an agent prepared and Agent allowances and paid work.
